I too was told this "No one ever cancels". Last year, I was booked in for the course at the end of August but I didn't want to wait the whole summer so I kept calling and calling and calling to see if there were any cancellations. They were getting sick of hearing from me! They told me, "You can keep calling and do whatever you want, but just so you know no one EVER cancels from this course because it's so hard to get in in the first place." Well, I called one Monday morning in July and the registrar seemed astonished and said, "It just so happens that there have been two cancellations for this weekend's course." I made her switch me registration in the computer and wouldn't get off the phone until she assured me that I had one of those two spots. You can imagine how happy I was! So don't believe them when they say no one ever cancels. People get sick, special plans come up, some people lose their nerve or decide riding really isn't for them after all.

I've heard of lots of people who have just showed up early Saturday morning before the course starts and if there's a "no show", they get to fill that spot. At my course, if you weren't there within the first 15 minutes, they'd give your spot away to someone else, and that person stays the whole weekend.

Good luck!
